After being a wildlife artist for many years, I was introduced to Native Americans, their lives, history, legends and myths. I came to realize that I could illustrate their stories by including them in my wildlife paintings, dressed in their beautiful dance regalia. The Native Peoples believe that the animals are a source of wisdom and act as spirit helpers in this life. In writing the stories, which are included with each painting, I try to stay as true to their lives as possible, however, after working for several weeks on a painting, some of my own thoughts and feelings come out as well. Throughout my career as an artist, I have worked with oils, acrylics and watercolors. At present, I prefer to work exclusively with watercolors. I love the challenge of painting such fine detail with this medium.
